Cover & Exclusions

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some warranties provide broad mechanical, electrical and electronic cover subject to stated exclusions, while others list the components or events that are covered. Always check the applicable warranty documentation for the exact cover.

Covered engine components can be included, depending on the warranty product and level of cover. Whether a particular repair is covered also depends on the cause of failure, exclusions, servicing compliance, claim limits and the other warranty terms.

Covered transmission components can be included, depending on the product and level of cover. The circumstances and cause of the failure, exclusions, servicing requirements and applicable claim limits also need to be considered.

An extended warranty is generally intended to assist with covered mechanical or electrical failures, not routine maintenance or components that have simply reached the end of their normal service life. Wear and tear provisions vary between products, so the cause of the failure and the actual warranty terms are important.

It does not necessarily mean unlimited cover. A warranty may have no specified dollar limit for an individual claim while still having an overall maximum liability or benefit limit. Depending on the product, an overall limit may be linked to the vehicle's market value at the time of claim.

Routine servicing, maintenance items and consumables are generally not what an extended warranty is designed to cover. The warranty documentation identifies the applicable covered components and exclusions.
